Top Three Hockey Games To Play

It is not only basketball, football, soccer and baseball that make fans cheer wildly in the stands for their favorite teams. These days the game of hockey is also taking their share in the pie.

There are good similar points that you can see in this game of hockey as you would see in the other popular sports. The game involves two teams that work against each other to shoot the ball into the other team's goal. The difference is that the game of hockey uses a puck or a small ball, a hockey stick and some ice.

The biggest variation of all is that the hockey players must know how to skate. If they don't then they better sit out in the bleachers and watch. There are various versions of the game of hockey. Let us read more on these different hockey plays and get to know the game a little better.

* Ice hockey. Probably the most popular hockey game there is ice hockey as its name suggests is set on a smooth plane of ice where hockey team players do their scrimmage to make that hockey point. The game of ice hockey uses a puck which is a rubber disk measuring in diameter around 3 inches. The puck works better on ice as it does not sway and move away as much on ice as a regular ball does. We would not want to see those hockey players spending more of their time chasing the rolling ball than actually playing the game, won't we? To ensure that the hockey puck behaves its best at the game, the league officials see to it that the puck undergoes some freezing before the actual game.

* Field hockey. You will more commonly see field hockey being played by women. The game may be played with both men and women or typically with just men or just women. The usual setting for this type of hockey is on sand, on natural grass, on a water based lawn or on gravel. Field hockey uses a small and round ball instead of the puck which is more appropriate considering the field the game is played on.

* Street hockey. For kids who cannot afford to play in the ice or do not have an appropriate field nearby to play ice or field hockey, street hockey may be the last resort. Street hockey need no better place than on the streets. You and your playmates can simply look for an empty alley and do your skirmish there and then. Street hockey may be played with a puck or with a small bag. It all depends on the team's or the player's preference.

Whatever kind or type of hockey you and your friends may be interested in, what is important is that you have the skill and of course, the right gear for the game. Hockey can be a dangerous sport wherever you may play it especially with its heavy pucks and large hockey sticks. Be safe and you will definitely have a fun game always.
