Four Types Of Hockey Sticks Hockey Players Use

Hockey is one of the most famous sports in the world. It's played on almost every continent and has attracted old and young players alike. It's a very physical sport which requires players to be physically fit.

When people talk about hockey, the first thing that comes to mind would be the ice, the players, the ice skates, the padded gear, the puck and the hockey stick. The hockey stick is basically the main tool a player has when they play hockey.

Players can't hold the puck with their hands and simply skate over to the opponent's goal and throw it in. They have to use a hockey stick in order to be able to slide the puck on the ice towards the opposing team's goal, slam it with the hockey stick and hope it goes in.

There have been many variations of the hockey stick since the sport keeps on changing. Everything is getting more modern by the season and players have to keep up. Since hockey sticks are the player's main tool in the sport, the hockey stick has been reinforced with other materials or has been virtually remodeled. Here are some of the hockey sticks that hockey players use in the sport.

1. Wood Hockey Sticks – Not that many players use this kind of hockey stick in the professional leagues anymore but these are recommended for amateurs or beginners. The good thing about wooden hockey sticks is that these don't hurt your pockets that much.

The downside, however, is that these break over time since these are just made out of wood. Regardless of what quality of wood the hockey stick is made out of, wood is wood and will certainly break after slamming a puck across the ice.

2. Aluminum Hockey Sticks – Once upon a time, aluminum hockey sticks were the biggest craze. Almost every player in every team had an aluminum hockey stick.

The best thing about an aluminum hockey stick is that it's built to last. No matter how much you smack the puck, the aluminum hockey stick won't wear out so easily. The only problem about the aluminum hockey stick is that it's heavy and makes players really uncomfortable. This means that players won't be able to maneuver the puck on the ice that well and may turn the puck over to the opposing team.

3. Fiberglass Hockey Sticks – Just like the wood ones, fiberglass breaks over time. It didn't really make that much of an impact on the sport. Although these failed to take off in ice hockey, these are mostly used for off the ice hockey sports. But that's a totally different story.

4. Titanium Hockey Sticks – The name says it all. This kind of hockey stick is by far the most durable and lightweight hockey stick there is. It usually just starts as a shaft but can easily be fitted with wood or carbon blades. The only problem however is that these cost a whole lot of money. But why not spend on something expensive but built to last than something that just breaks?

These are just some of the hockey sticks hockey players use.
